IG presses Montgomery exec for details on water-pump payments

Montgomery County’s top watchdog is asking for more information about a multi-million pumping station that county officials say washingtonexaminer.com/maryland/2010/11/montgomery-residents-charged-twice-multimillion-dollar-pumping-station taxpayers were charged twice for.

In a memo to Chief Administrative Officer Timothy Firestine, Inspector General Thomas Dagley requested a series of documents related to the Hoyles Mill Wastewater Pumping station, in the West Germantown Development

District.

They include: A copy of any documentation used to determine the $3.8 million price tag for the project, a copy of all invoices related to the pumping station and a list of all payments to developers — including the name and address of the payee, date of payment, dollar amount and name of approving official.

After a recent Washington Examiner article (washingtonexaminer.com/maryland/2010/11/montco-councilman-wants-law-stop-double-charging-taxpayers), Councilman Marc Elrich asked for legislation that would block payments by different government agencies for the same work.
