Among the most notorious figures at the Democratic convention have been the so-called “trash police.” The green-shirted volunteers are posted at the three-unit trash receptacles in and around the Pepsi Center. One bin is for the landfill, one is for recyclables and one is for compostable material.
A three-member trash police squad stopped an unlucky delegate and forced him to disassemble the remnants of his half-eaten lunch, with the roast beef sandwich heading one way, the paper wrapper another and the plastic bag into the third.
