Fox host warns of ’emotional civil war’ from political divide

Fox Business anchor Trish Regan on her show Friday night expressed her concern surrounding the possibility of an upcoming “emotional civil war” as a result of the political divide.

Regan was discussing the protests that occurred in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the day before in response to President Trump’s rally.

“There was a time in history when the U.S. was just as fractured, when people refused to see others as people and politics got in the way of family, of decency and faith in our government. I am talking about the 1850s. The result was the darkest moment in American history. The Civil War. We are near a Civil War right now,” Regan began.

She clarified, “I don’t mean a war in quite a literal historic sense. I don’t believe there will be armies and generals leading battles, certainly hope not. But we are at a breaking point in terms of an emotional civil war with violence that will spill into our streets. It’s happening now, our leaders must take responsibility for this. They cannot permit this violence.”

Regan then brought on former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon. Bannon went on to support the “heated debate as long as it stays as debate,” but called violence in the name of politics “un-American.”
