Sinkhole triggers more evacuations in Camp Springs

Three more homes on the 5000 block of Yorkville Road in Camp Springs were evacuated Tuesday night over concern that they might start slipping into a massive sinkhole that cracked open Monday as heavy rain pounded the region, a Prince George’s County spokesman said. Two homes on the block had already been cleared, with the back of one drooping into the hole. – Freeman Klopott

Man attacked as car stolen

An 18-year-old man was attacked by four black males in their late teens on the 13000 block of Smokewood Terrace in Germantown early Monday morning, Montgomery County police said.

The four men began their attack when the victim, who sufferedminor injuries, refused to give them a ride. The suspects fled in the victim’s black Toyota Corolla in an unknown direction. One of the four men had his hair styled in cornrows. Anyone with information should call 240-773-5100.

Boy dies in alleged DUI crash

A Warrenton boy lying down in the backseat of his family van without a seat belt was killed when a pickup truck, allegedly driven by a drunk driver, smashed into the vehicle from behind sometime before 6 a.m., Prince William County police said. Joshua Adams, 8, was thrown into the center console of the 2004 Honda Odyssey and died Sunday afternoon at a local hospital. His mother, 52, and his brother, 20, also suffered injuries in the crash.

The driver of the pickup, Rodney Aaron Martin, 22, of Manassas, was injured and charged with driving under the influence. He could face additional charges, police spokeswoman Officer Erika Hernandez said. – Dan Genz

Police seek to ID dead man

Prince George’s County police are seeking the identity of a Hispanic man found dead with trauma to his upper body in a wooded area on the 6300 block of Sligo Parkway in Hyattsville. The man is between 30 and 40 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 160 pounds with tattoos on his back. Anyone with information should call 301-772-4925.
