‘What a joke’: Joe Scarborough rips the Left for criticism of Meghan McCain

Joe Scarborough took aim at liberals after a New York Times opinion writer said ABC’s The View had “a Meghan McCain problem.”

“The Left owns most of American popular culture. And yet the existence of one moderately conservative woman poses a threat to civil discourse. Good Lord. What a joke,” the MSNBC host said Thursday on Twitter. “The Left kissed up to John McCain every time he spoke truth to Trump but can’t handle his daughter speaking her own mind when it doesn’t fit neatly into a progressive world view? Open your mind.”

Shamira Ibrahim, a culture writer, wrote an article for the New York Times, where she called the conservative host “the privileged product of conservative nepotism, capitalism and the American military-industrial complex.”

McCain, 35, responded to Ibrahim by saying it showed the New York Times despises conservatives. “@nytimes⁩ – everyone already knows how much you despise red state, pro life, pro #2A conservative women, and wish we would all just go away,” she said.

The daughter of former Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain is the only conservative on The View. She frequently finds herself in intense policy disagreements with her more liberal fellow hosts.

Scarborough defended McCain, despite leaving the Republican party over two years ago. Both television hosts are staunch critics of President Trump.
