Troop Beverly Hills: The Experience at Sixth & I, Saturday Yes, you’ve read that right. There is an evening dedicated entirely to the 1989 film “Troop Beverly Hills.”
For those who aren’t caught up on their cheesy late-’80s movies, “Troop Beverly Hills” stars Shelley Long as the leader of the Wilderness Girls, a Girl Scouts-type group. Shenanigans and hilarity ensue from there.
The idea for an evening dedicated to “TBH” started when Erika Brooks Adickman and a group of friends watched some DVDs in a snowed-in cabin. That’s when the group learned they all had a commonality around “Troop Beverly Hills.”
That got Adickman to thinking: Maybe there are other “TBH” fanatics out there?
“We can’t be the only ones who feel this way,” she said. “I’m not that original.”
Thus was born Troop Beverly Hills: The Experience. The event has taken place in Los Angeles and New York, and now for the first time comes to D.C.
“It’s not your ordinary nostalgic movie screening,” Adickman said. “It’s a completely interactive screening.”
The TBH experience includes trivia, sing-alongs and dancing, in addition to watching a screening of the film.
Whether you’re a Wilderness Girl at heart, or never heard of the movie, Saturday should be quite the experience.
“You’ll have no problem following along,” Adickman said. “You’re not going to be lost.”
