Former State Sen. Thomas Bromwell, his wife and three other associates in a scheme that earned them federal convictions for actions involving state work have been barred “from contracting, directly or indirectly, with the state of Maryland for an indefinite period.”
The action by the state Board of Public Works was not contested by Bromwell, Mary Pat Bromwell, David Stoffregen, Geraldine Forti and Michael Forti.
Assistant Attorney General Gary Hornick said the official “debarment” from state work was a routine result of the federal convictions.
“The debarment law is not punishment, but is intended to procurement the state procurement process,” which was compromised by the crimes, he said.
