‘My name is John Fetterwoman’: Democrat seeks female support at abortion rights event

Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman introduced himself to a crowd at a Sunday pro-abortion rights event as “John Fetterwoman.”

The event, held on the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, also featured remarks from Alexis McGill Johnson, the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood.

Nearly 2,700 attendees were present at the rally at Montgomery County Community College.

Fetterman mentioned women several times, focusing on supporting the opposite sex’s right to an abortion. This deviates from a persistent movement on the Left to separate abortion from gender, with some activists claiming men are also capable of becoming pregnant and thus obtaining abortions.

“My name is John Fetterwoman,” he told the crowd, displaying a bright pink T-shirt that read, “Fetterwoman.” The shirts were donned by several volunteers and supporters during the event.

“Women are the reason we can win,” the lieutenant governor said. “Don’t piss women off.”

Fetterman then took aim at his opponent, TV doctor Mehmet Oz, who is running as a Republican. He homed in on recently resurfaced remarks from ahead of the Republican primary, in which Oz claimed abortion is “murder” at any stage during pregnancy.

“If every abortion is a murder, that means that Dr. Oz considers every woman who had to choose an abortion is a killer,” Fetterman told attendees. “Think about that.”

However, a spokesperson for Oz responded to Fetterman’s comments, telling the Washington Examiner, “Whether it’s about his health, debates, or any topic — you can always tell John Fetterman is lying because he’s talking. Dr. Oz supports exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother. It’s quite the contrast from John Fetterman who supports abortion up until the moment of birth.”

Fetterman, who suffered a stroke in May, has been criticized for his lack of campaign events. Oz has repeatedly addressed his opponent’s relative absence, previously suggesting, “John Fetterman is either healthy and he’s dodging the debate because he does not want to answer for his radical left positions, or he’s too sick to participate in the debate.”

Since then, Fetterman said he plans to debate Oz ”sometime in the middle to end of October.”
