Dem senators ready to drop ‘Trump textbook’ on GOP

A coalition of Democratic senators will release a report Thursday outlining how their Republican colleagues have pushed for the same policies presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump supports.

The Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC), an advisory board to the party’s leadership, will announce Republican senators’ “Trump textbook” during a press conference at the U.S. Capitol.

Sens. Charles Schumer of New York, Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, and Chris Coons of Delaware are expected to urge Republicans to “support Dem policies that help the middle class” and break from Trump’s agenda.

“Despite attempts to keep their distance from Donald Trump’s policies, Senate Republicans have actually been pushing the same special interest-driven agenda for years,” the advisory states. “Senate Republicans agree with the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee on the Supreme Court blockade, risking America’s full faith and credit, denying climate change, providing tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the middle class.”

The 2 p.m. meeting is set to take place after Trump’s visits with House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
