Trump lands in California to assess wildfires

President Trump landed in California Saturday to assess the damage from the two wildfires in California and speak with firefighters and elected officials.

Although Trump has been critical of the management of the fires, he said that there are “incredible people doing the job.”

“I don’t think we’ll have this again to this extent,” Trump said, suggesting that these would likely be the worst wildfires California will experience. “Hopefully, this is going to be the last of these because this was a really, really bad one.”

“Nobody would have ever thought this could happen,” Trump continued.

The official death toll reached a total of 74 in the northern Camp Fire and the southern Woolsey Fire. The number of missing individuals is still unknown, but the number of those unaccounted for was at 1,011 as of Saturday morning.

Trump said he spoke with forest management, and they had the same goal: “I think we’re all on the same path. We do have to do management.”
