National Security Council spokesman Michael Anton is leaving the White House — a move that coincides with the arrival of new national security adviser John Bolton.
According to the White House, President Trump called Anton — who was brought on by former national security adviser Michael Flynn — to thank him.
Anton said he plans join Hillsdale College’s Kirby Center as a writer and lecturer.
“I will be forever grateful to President Trump for the opportunity to serve my country and implement his agenda,” he told Politico.
“Michael is one of the smartest and most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with — not to mention an amazing chef,” said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in a statement.
Bolton begins on Monday, following the departure of H.R. McMaster, Flynn’s successor, on Friday.
“Tomorrow I look forward to starting as National Security Advisor, and working with President Trump and his team to keep America safe and secure in these challenging times,” he said on Twitter on Sunday.

Anton’s last day is expected to be in the coming weeks. He became well-known during the 2016 presidential campaign for the pseudonymous essays he wrote.
