White House adviser Stephen Miller said Sunday that federal judges don’t have the last word when in comes to President Trump’s immigration policy and travel ban.
“There’s no such thing as judicial supremacy,” Miller told Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” referring to a three-judge panel’s ruling on Thursday halting Trump’s travel ban for immigrants from seven majority-Muslim countries.
“What the judges did, both at the Ninth and the district level, was to take power for themselves that belongs squarely in the hands of the president,” Miller said.
“A district judge in Seattle cannot make immigration law for the United States,” Miller added, explaining that judges are unable to give rights to foreign nationals.
Miller said the White House is looking at all options to continue with Trump’s executive order. The administration is “pursuing every single possible action to keep our country safe from terrorism,” he said.
