Michael Avenatti heading to New Hampshire as he weighs presidential run

Michael Avenatti, the lawyer for adult film actress Stormy Daniels, is heading to New Hampshire in September as he weighs a presidential run in 2020.

“I will be meeting with democratic officials and citizens of New Hampshire to learn about issues that matter and explore if it makes sense to run,” he confirmed to the Washington Examiner in an email.

The state holds the first presidential primary elections in the nation every four years.

Avenatti was at the Iowa State Fair on Thursday, a key stop for presidential candidates, and attended a Democratic fundraiser in the state Friday.

The lawyer said last month he could enter the race for the White House if he didn’t believe any other candidate could defeat President Trump.

Avenatti, who is representing Daniels in a lawsuit against the president, frequently appears on cable news to taunt Trump and his allies. The attorney denied he is using a potential presidential run for personal benefit.

“I would never think to come to Iowa in order to use the state or the people of the state to raise my profile,” he told the Des Moines Register. “And obviously if I do this, then I intend to work hard and I know that ultimately the trust of the citizens of Iowa is going to have to be earned.”
