A Maryland lawyer has been sentenced to three years and 10 months for cheating his clients out of nearly $2 million.
Frank P. Jenkins, 45, of LaPlata, was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Greenbelt.
According to court records, he embezzled $1.8 million in clients’ funds between 2006 and 2009. In a November guilty plea, he admitted that he used the funds for personal expenses, Washington Capitals hockey tickets and to repay other clients he had previously defrauded.
Jenkins also admitted forging his clients’ signatures on documents. He pleaded guilty to wire and mail fraud charges.
He was disbarred in September 2009.
