Trump on de Blasio: ‘NYC HATES HIM!’

President Trump did not hold back ripping his hometown mayor, Bill de Blasio, who announced Thursday he’s vying for the 2020 Democratic nomination.

Trump called the New York City mayor a “JOKE” and told his Twitter followers “he’s your man” if they appreciate high taxes and crime.

“NYC HATES HIM!” Trump wrote.

De Blasio, 58, announced his candidacy in a 3-minute video that outlined several policy issues he would prioritize, including free pre-K for all, paid sick leave, and guaranteed healthcare.

The mayor, who became the 23rd Democrat to enter the race, said Trump “must be stopped.”

“I’m a New Yorker. I’ve known Trump’s ability for a long time. This is not news to me or anyone else here, and I know how to take him on,” de Blasio said.

De Blasio has been criticized by other New Yorkers as well.

The largest police union in the city called his presidential run “laughable.” Protesters outside ABC’s studios in New York chanted “liar” as de Blasio appeared on the network early Thursday to discuss his bid.
