Erin Bush lives in Centreville. She likes cupcakes, dancing in the kitchen and midnight margaritas. One of her goals in life: To learn how to do a handstand without falling. She is the mother of eight — four kids and four cats; she also has a job, a husband … and a blog, called ErinSlick.
What do you primarily blog about?
The blog started as a personal journal and it has evolved with me since 2007. Recently, I read that there is a new genetic test on the market for consumers where you send in your DNA and they advise you how to lose weight based on your unique genetic makeup. I am a bit addicted to diet and weight loss books, so I figured it would be a fun project for me. I’ve been blogging about that process. I’m in the early stages of it, but plan to blog throughout the entire process to whatever end.
Your biggest “blogging” failure?
I took a hiatus … actually I flat-out stopped blogging for about 10 months. I assumed my community would still be waiting on me and 26 awesome loyal readers actually did, but I’m really working to get my community back. Once you start a blog and gain a following, stopping is a huge mistake.
Why did you choose DCblogs to publish your postings on?
I am involved with the D.C. area insofar as I am a huge believer in utilizing all that D.C. has to offer. I believe everyone should come to D.C. and see our memorials, museums and buildings. I love living here. I chose DCblogs because it’s a fabulous resource for those of us who do live here; restaurant reviews, exhibit information, all the way down to neighborhood goings-on.
Does your husband read your blog?
Yes, he reads it. I think he thinks it’s fun to read because he never knows what I’m going to say. I tend to use him and our relationship as a catalyst for what I want to say, and I think he likes that I have this creative outlet. — Hristina Ninova
