A medical helicopter crashed on the golf course of a veterans’ retirement home Tuesday evening, injuring four people, including the patient it was carrying.
The helicopter came down just after 5 p.m. at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, 3700 N. Capitol St. NW.
The MedStar Health helicopter was en route to Washington Hospital Center when it crashed on the home’s nine-hole golf course, MedStar spokeswoman Erika Murray said. Murray said she wasn’t sure where the patient aboard the copter had been picked up, but that it wasn’t the retirement home.
The crash injured the patient, pilot, co-pilot and nurse aboard, Murray said. But the injuries did not appear life-threatening as all four were conscious Murray said.
“There’s a lot of chaos going on down there,” one of the home’s police officers said.
