Trump accepts invitation to visit United Kingdom

President Trump accepted an invitation from British Prime Minister Theresa May to visit the United Kingdom, during her White House visit on Friday.

May told reporters at a joint press conference after their sit-down that Trump had accepted an invite from Queen Elizabeth to visit Buckingham Palace.

“We’ve really had some very interesting talks and some very productive talks,” Trump said after meeting with May in the Oval Office.

Both Trump and May reaffirmed the special relationship between the U.S. and U.K., and said they would continue to deepen ties in a range of areas, including counterterrorism.

May said they also talked about laying the groundwork for a bilateral trade agreement, a goal of both countries since the U.K.’s vote to exit the European Union.
