Caitlyn Jenner is reportedly considering a run for governor of California.
The Olympic gold medalist and transgender activist is speaking to political consultants, according to Axios, and could be a high-profile Republican challenger to Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in a possible recall election.
One of the consultants Jenner is said to be in contact with is Caroline Wren, who has been a longtime fundraiser for the GOP.

The Washington Examiner attempted to reach Wren for comment on the matter but did not immediately hear back. Jenner and Wren declined comment for the initial report.
In February, Jenner’s manager, Sophia Hutchins, released a statement saying there were no plans for a gubernatorial campaign.
“Caitlyn is not running for governor, has never considered running for governor and is very happy doing the work that she is doing to promote LGBT rights and spending time with her 18 grandchildren and 10 children,” Hutchins said at the time.
The athlete and reality TV star, who was born Bruce Jenner, became a household name after winning the 1976 Olympic men’s decathlon. In 2015, Jenner transitioned to a woman and became Caitlyn Jenner.

The 71-year-old, who has floated a run for office in the past, was a self-proclaimed supporter of former President Donald Trump, but in 2018, she wrote a Washington Post op-ed saying that Trump and his administration were not helping transgender people in the way she had hoped.
“Believing that I could work with Trump and his administration to support our community was a mistake,” Jenner wrote.
In the California recall effort, signatures are currently being validated to ascertain whether the requisite number was reached to put the question on the ballot in the fall. Organizers said they obtained more than enough signatures, but even if they are successful, the likelihood that Newsom will actually be voted out of office remains an open question.
A poll released by Probolsky Research on March 23 showed that 52.3% of likely recall voters believed that Newsom should not be voted out of office. Only 34.6% of that same group believe he should be voted out of office.
