Former Vice President Walter Mondale criticized Vice President Mike Pence for how he has done his job.
Mondale, 91, said Pence appears to be best at standing loyally and quietly behind President Trump, instead of serving as a close adviser to the president.

Mondale, who served under President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981, made the comments in an interview with Al Franken on the former senator’s podcast.

“Pence is in the White House, what he is doing there I don’t know,” Mondale said. “I keep telling them not to just stand behind the president. Go out and do your own thing and help the president, but don’t just think that you’ve got a chore there to be standing at attention when your president talks.
“Look at this guy, that’s all he does. He walks up behind the president, stands at attention,” he said.
“There’s a creepiness to all of it,” said Franken, who resigned in 2018 after being accused by several women of groping and forcibly kissing them.
“Yeah. What’s he thinking? What is he doing?” Mondale said.
“He contributes to the creepiness, I would say,” Franken said.
“I think so,” Mondale replied.
