When Chris Christie’s term as New Jersey governor is up next year, the Republican may be lending his voice to sports-talk radio.
A report from NorthJersey.com on Wednesday says WFAN 660-AM, the region’s leading sports-talk radio station, is eying the former presidential candidate as someone who could replace afternoon host Mike Francesca after an expected retirement at the end of the year.
“I would certainly at least want to consider him,” said Mark Chernoff, the station’s program director and vice president of its parent company. “If he’s interested and we’re interested, it’s worth pursuing.”
After dropping out of the 2016 presidential election and supporting Donald Trump’s candidacy, he was in the running for the attorney general job, and possibly others. But now Christie claims not to have a future with the Trump administration.
Christie taking the job would be an interesting prospect, considering Christie’s fierce critiques of Philadelphia sports teams and their fans.
In January, Christie said Philadelphia Eagles fans are “generally angry, awful people.” Last week, he said the Phillies “suck” and their stadium is “unsafe.”
When it comes to football, Christie is a Dallas Cowboys fan, and has spoken favorably of New York sports teams like the Mets, and those that play or used to be located in New Jersey, like the Devils hockey team.
