WATCH: Crowd sings national anthem when mic cuts out in Kansas City

Fans at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City stepped in with backup vocals during the national anthem ahead of the Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals game on Sunday.

National anthem singer Ashanti’s microphone continually cut out, but the crowd stepped in. The moment was caught on camera.

Fans in the stands could be heard questioning if the speaker system was working before the crowd joined in for a collective rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Social media filled with pride for the crowd.

Nicole Raviv, the national anthem singer for the New York Islanders who experienced a similar situation at a game last year, has since intentionally included the crowd in the singing of the national anthem more often.

“I’d like to believe we started a movement,” Raviv wrote on Twitter. “Don’t forget.”

Other fans shared their praise.

“Listen to the crowd singing the national anthem to help Ashanti,” Twitter user Kathy Lynn tweeted. “How awesome is this.”

“Big props to the crowd in KC for picking up the National Anthem when Ashanti was experiencing technical difficulties with her microphone,” Daniel Brown tweeted.

An Instagram user even called it the highlight of the game.

“Yesterday, oh yesterday,” wrote Flemily.g on Instagram. “The best part? Singing the national anthem with 75,000 neighbors and friends. Why aren’t we doing this every Sunday?”
