TITTABAWASSEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — The loss of a direct flight from Michigan’s MBS International Airport to Orlando, Fla., apparently won’t stop plans for building a new terminal.
MBS is in Saginaw County’s Tittabawassee Township and serves the Midland-Bay City-Saginaw area.
Allegiant Air announced Wednesday that it was stopping direct service from MBS to Orlando-Sanford International Airport. The Las Vegas-based airline launched the service in November, but spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler tells Mlive.com (http://bit.ly/LSH3pi ) that there was insufficient demand.
MBS Manager Jeff Nagel says the loss of the service is unfortunate but says it won’t stop the planned move to a new terminal next year.
The airport commission approved the move to the new terminal in 2006. The project is expected to cost between $48 million and $50 million.
