Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore is seizing on President Trump’s statement to a rally for his opponent that “I might have made a mistake,” in a new ad released by his campaign Monday.
“There is something called loyalty. And I might have made a mistake. And I’ll be honest, I might have made a mistake,” Trump said during a Friday rally for Moore’s run-off challenger Sen. Luther Strange.
Trump also told the crowd that he would campaign for Moore if Strange loses Tuesday’s election.
“I told Luther, I have to say this, if his opponent wins, I’m going to be here campaigning like hell for him. But I have to say this, and you understand this. Just look at the polls. Luther will definitely win. You know what I’m saying. Roy has a very good chance of not winning in the general election,” Trump said.
Moore’s ad, featuring Trump’s quotes from the rally, highlights polls showing Moore with a lead over Strange and ends with Moore looking into the camera saying, “And I can’t wait.”
