RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The Virginia State Crime Commission will discuss the collection of forensic evidence in sexual assault cases where the victim may not be legally capable of giving consent.
The issue is on the agenda for the commission’s meeting Wednesday.
The commission also will hear a staff report on illegal cigarette trafficking. The General Assembly last winter directed the commission to examine the scope of the problem, how and why it occurs, health implications and options for fighting the crime.
Recommendations will go to the legislature in time for the 2013 session, which begins in January.
