PERSONAL STATS
AGE:
58

NUMBER OF YEARS IN THE D.C. REGION: Also 58. I was born in Northeast D.C. at the Old Sibley Hospital that no longer stands on that spot. My family draws a direct correlation between these two events.

FAVORITE RESTAURANT

L’Auberge Chez Francois in Great Falls (332 Springvale Falls)

FAVORITE SPORTS EVENT

The World Series and the Masters golf tournament are always fun to watch but are clearly equaled by the play of my softball team. This year is my 36th season on the same team!

BEST LIVE MUSIC

The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra is a too-well-kept secret. Now approaching its 52nd season and with new Music Director Christopher Zimmerman, the FSO plays at George Mason University and is an excellent orchestra. Plus, it’s closer and cheaper than going downtown.

BEST CHEAP FUN

Golf is always cheap because I can usually win enough in bets to pay for my round. I especially like the Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton.

BEST PLACE FOR OUT-OF-TOWN VISITORS

The National Archives

FAVORITE HISTORICAL SPOT

Mount Vernon

BEST BREAKFAST SPOT

The Tower Club (8000 Towers Crescent Drive, Vienna)

BEST MEMORY OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA

My sons’ childhoods

LEAST FAVORITE PART OF LIVING IN D.C.

The news coverage in this region focuses primarily on political events and people and not enough on our communities and that which directly affects our day-to-day lives.

BEST FAIR/FESTIVAL

The International Children’s Festival (Sept. 19-20 at Wolf Trap)
