Seven people were stabbed, some critically wounded, at the state capitol in Sacramento, Calif., Sunday as a demonstration by a neo-Nazi group reportedly devolved into violence with counter-protestors.
Five people were transported to hospitals with stab wounds, according to the Sacramento fire department.
The violence took place when a planned protest by the Traditional Worker Party, a group identified as a neo-Nazi organization by local media, met with counter-protestors.
Frances Wang, a reporter for a local ABC station, posted to her Twitter feed video of counter-protestors and protestors scuffling and fighting.
Insane video. Crowd sees any signs of “Nazis” and they run&attack. A lot of people bleeding/getting maced. @ABC10 pic.twitter.com/PoFhILfZ95

It was not clear from public officials or reports which people were injured, or how violence broke out.
The original protestors stated a goal of marching against “globalization and in defense of the right to free expression,” according to the Los Angeles Times, but they were significantly outnumbered by opposition.
