A second Los Angeles police officer testified during the defamation suit against actress Amber Heard Wednesday that he did not see evidence of domestic violence at actor Johnny Depp’s apartment.
Officers William Gatlin and Tyler Hadden arrived at the Los Angeles penthouse suite Depp shared with Heard on May 21, 2016, after receiving a call from Heard regarding a domestic dispute. In the end, no charges were filed against Depp.
Gatlin agreed with a fellow officer’s testimony Tuesday that Heard only appeared red in the face from crying, not an injury, in his video deposition. Hadden described Heard as “unresponsive” but also “not fearful.” The officer claimed he could sense that an argument had taken place.
“It’s not against the law to argue,” Hadden said. “I argue with my wife.”

The front desk secretary of Depp’s apartment building, Alejandro Romero, shared his testimony via video deposition next. Romero has worked at the Eastern Columbia building for 13 years and testified that he did not see any injuries on Heard around the time of the dispute in 2016.
Heard’s lawyers showed Romero elevator footage that had previously been shown in court. In the video, Depp is seen seemingly agitated, slamming down his bag, removing his jacket, and pacing the elevator.
“Most of the time, he’s really calm,” Romero said. “He’s a really happy person. This is the first time I saw him like that.”
He said he didn’t want to be involved in the court case because “we all have problems.” Throughout his deposition, he sat in the driver’s seat of the car, smoking what looked like a vape pen.
“I just want to be done with it,” Romero said. Toward the end, Romero was seen driving his car while fielding questions. Depp snickered at Romero’s frustration with the deposition questioning.
“I would not agree to testify against anyone of domestic violence, cause I was not there,” Romero went on. “I did not see anything, I did not hear anything.”
“That was a first,” Judge Penney Azcarate said of Romero’s deposition.
