WATCH: Airport evacuated and bomb squad brought in over ‘suspicious’ PlayStation

Boston Logan International Airport was the site of a mass evacuation Sunday after authorities reported a suspicious item in an X-ray machine.

Upon review, the item in question was found to be an old PlayStation, according to a report.

Alarm was raised after Transportation Security Administration officials made the discovery while screening passenger belongings prior to an afternoon Delta Air Lines flight, Massachusetts State Police said.

Terminal A was evacuated, and bomb squad members arrived on the scene to investigate the situation, the report noted.

“Troopers responded and, after investigation and research, determined that the item was a PlayStation video game console with a degraded condition caused by age or damage,” according to police.

The damage to the console resulted in “abnormalities” during the X-ray screening.

Passengers, employees, and police were forced to crowd the terminal’s sidewalk while investigators looked into the scene, according to footage posted to social media.

“I had a 6:00 p.m. flight and I was just getting to the airport. When I got out of the car, a bunch of people ran out screaming, so I got back in the car. I didn’t hear what they were screaming about,” one witness said.

“Then we drove around the terminals again. By the time we got back, Terminal A had been closed by the cops and I could see the people standing outside.”

Multiple passengers even reported being instructed to exit their planes after boarding.

Business has since returned to Logan, and passengers reentered the terminal around 5:00 p.m., the report noted.
