Bojangles’ manager who allegedly locked Trump supporters out of store no longer employed

A manager at a Bojangles restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina, is no longer employed following a viral Facebook post that appeared to show supporters of President Trump being denied entry following a nearby rally.

“Bojangles locked the doors to the Trump rally last night and denied service,” Michael Furick wrote on Facebook earlier this week. “Ironic because the rally was at Bojangles arena. @bojangles this is pretty distasteful. I walk up to the door and people are gathered around and stated they would not serve trump supporters.”

Bojangles issued a statement Tuesday trying to explain the situation by saying the restaurant had become inundated with customers and the “young shift manager” made the “bad decision” to close down temporarily. The statement also said that the drive-thru remained open and the main part of the restaurant was opened up again 30 minutes later.

The company provided an update on Friday and informed the public that the manager in question no longer works for Bojangles.

“We apologize,” the company tweeted from its official Twitter account. “The manager on duty is no longer employed by us. Bojangles’ welcomes ALL customers.”

It was not immediately clear whether or not the manager resigned or was terminated.

It is estimated that over 10,000 people attended Trump’s rally at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte on Monday.
