Gingrich encourages Trump to end White House press briefings

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called on President Trump on Tuesday to end the White House press briefings, according to a report.

President Trump should “close down the White House press briefing room,” Gingrich told Politico.

Gingrich said he is tired of being “harassed” by the media and that closing down the press briefing room would show the nation how corrupt they truly are.

“I am personally offended by the American news media. I think it is destructive and disgusting,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich also said he believes 10 percent of the president’s problems come from mistakes made by White House staffers – and 90 percent come from the media. He said the press should be sent to a nearby Starbucks and that White House press secretary Sean Spicer should answer questions from the general public.

“The damage the news media is doing to the United States is despicable,” he said.

Gingrich’s remarks come one week after President Trump threatened to shut down the White House press briefings and release all information via written release.
