Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office will include orders to suspend immigration from terror-prone countries, roll back President Obama’s executive orders and cancel federal funding to sanctuary cities.
The GOP nominee detailed the first actions he would take if he wins during a speech in Gettysburg, Pa., on Saturday. Trump’s plan brings a sharp focus on immigration and energy priorities through executive action. He also put out a detailed list of legislation to introduce to Congress to repeal Obamacare and other top priorities.
Trump said immediately that he would suspend immigration from terror-prone countries, a policy he has proposed previously while on the campaign trail.
Trump went further to say he would also block providing visas to countries that refuse to take foreign nationals who commit crimes in the U.S. He said that his opponent Hillary Clinton, while she served as secretary of state, didn’t want to “force the country to take them,” he said.
He would also cut federal funding to “sanctuary cities” that don’t enforce federal immigration laws or prosecute undocumented immigrants.
Trump would also immediately cancel billions of dollars in payments the United Nation’s climate change programs and use that money to “fix America’s water and environmental infrastructure.”
Other executive orders aim at cutting down the size of the federal government, including a hiring freeze on all federal workers with exemptions for the military and public health. Another order would require for every new regulation issued by the federal government, another two existing regulations must be eliminated.
He also proposed a five-year ban on White House and government officials from joining a lobbying firm, and a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying for a foreign government.
Trump would also install a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.
The GOP nominee added he would direct the Treasury to label China as a “currency manipulator.”
“What they have done to us by playing currency is very sad and I don’t blame them, Trump said. “I blame our politicians for letting this take place.
He would also pull out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal and “totally renegotiate NAFTA.”
Legislative priorities Trump will pursue in Congress during his first 100 days includes bills to repeal and replace Obamacare, provide middle-income tax relief, and a bill to fully construct a wall along the border with Mexico.
“The business rate will be lowered from 35 percent to 15 percent and the trillions of dollars at American corporations overseas can be back at 10 percent rate,” said Trump, referring to American companies that have fled overseas for a lower tax rate.
Other bills he would introduce include legislation focused on rebuilding the military, revamping Veterans Affairs to provide better medical care, and speeding up approval of new drugs and devices.
“We are 4,000 different drugs and products waiting in line for approval and we can’t get them approved and we are going to speed things up,” he said.
