Former Democratic presidential nominee Mike Dukakis predicted Tuesday that Democrats would do well on Election Day because they’re sick of President Trump, who he said is “disagreeable all the time.”
“This Pocahontas stuff, what’s the matter with this guy?” Dukakis said on Fox News when asked about how Trump picks on Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.
“He’s the president of the United States. We have serious issues, both here and abroad, and this kind of stuff I think, well, it reflects basically the kind of racism that this guy seems to stand for,” the former Massachusetts governor said. “I mean, is there any group, any minority that he likes?”
Dukakis said he thinks voters will vote for Democrats because they’ve also had enough of Trump.
“Let’s knock off this insulting stuff,” he said. “I mean, I just can’t stand it, and I don’t think the American people can stand it, which is one reason why, I think, the results tonight are going to be pretty good.”
Dukakis, who lost to Vice President George Bush in 1988’s landslide election, predicted that voters would dump Trump in 2020.
“I think we’re going to get rid of the guy that’s in there and get ourselves a president who really reflects what America is all about,” he said.
“I’m not a fan of Trump’s, needless to say,” Dukakis added. “He’s an insulting guy, and he’s somebody who I think is pretty disagreeable all the time.”
