Fans cheer on brown bear roaming Italian countryside

A brown bear continues its escapades across the Italian countryside, eluding capture for a third day after escaping its enclosure in an Alpine region.

Four days previously, authorities captured the bear after attacks on livestock, according to the Associated Press.

It remains unclear just how the bear escaped its electrified enclosure or how it managed to scale a 13-foot-tall barrier. But several have begun showing their support for the bear on Twitter, eliciting international news coverage of the incident.

This support prompted Environment Minister Sergio Costa to instruct the Park Service via tweet not to shoot the bear, attempting to avoid a replay of the 2014 death of a bear caused by a tranquilizer dart after the animal had attacked a mushroom hunter in the same region.
