Facebook users reported on Wednesday that their feeds were flooded with posts by celebrities they do not follow.
Downdetector, a service tracking real-time problems online, reported thousands of issues related to Facebook — with 81% of complaints related to the website’s feed — beginning at 2 a.m. EDT. By later that morning, 45% of users reported issues with Facebook’s feed, while only 12% of users were reporting problems with the website overall.
Over 7,000 people were discussing the glitch on the platform. Others on Twitter also brought attention to the glitch, which had ended by about 5 a.m. EDT.

“I spent the better part of my day unfollowing Facebook pages, muting Facebook friends and leaving Facebook groups after it had a glitch. I couldn’t bare looking at those bizzare posts,” journalist Jackson Ngari tweeted. “I thought updating it would help but it was effortless. Weird!”
