Scoop: Jessica Simpson engaged to former 49er

Jessica Simpson is becoming a newlywed again. The singer is engaged to football-player beau Eric Johnson. They have been dating since May.

“Yes, we are excited to confirm that they are engaged!” the “Dukes of Hazzard” star’s rep told People magazine.

On Saturday, Jess was spotted with a diamond ring on her hand.

Both lovebirds have been married before — in fact, Eric was still technically married to his then-estranged wife when he started dating Jess. And Jess famously starred on a reality TV show documenting her three-year marriage to Nick Lachey, who quite coincidentally announced his engagement to girlfriend-of-four-years Vanessa Minnillo last week.

At least, being a romantic, we assume the timing was a total coincidence. If we were a cynic, we might suspect otherwise.

Dad drama

Surprise, surprise: Lindsay Lohan’s reconciliation with father Michael was short-lived. In his typical style, just a couple of weeks after their estrangement ended with an emotional reunion at the Betty Ford Center, Michael pushed his luck by showing up unannounced at LiLo’s L.A. pad.

The starlet, who had left the rehab center on a day pass, ordered security to have her dad removed, TMZ reported. Though he went willingly, his daughter was not pleased about his boundary-overstepping visit.

A source in Michael’s “camp” claimed he was only bringing Lindsay Chinese food.

Hide and seek

We are usually pretty skeptical of the whole “stars-are-just-like-regular-people” song and dance, but occasionally it is really the case. To wit: When Halle Berry momentarily lost sight of daughter Nahla on a shopping trip, she did what any other mother would do: She totally flipped out.

The Oscar winner was in a store with her adorable 3-year-old when “all of a sudden, I looked down at a price tag or something and she toddled off for what seemed like two seconds,” she told Ellen DeGeneres. “The next thing I know, I looked back around and it was like, Whoosh! Gone! And I said, ‘Nahla? Nahla? Nahla?’ Gone.”

“I’m like, ‘Close the store! Shut the door! My daughter’s gone!’” said the “Catwoman” star. “And you just freak out for about 30 seconds. I came undone. I think my head projected off my body.”

But the story has a happy ending.

“She was right next to me, in a rounder of clothes where the pants were hanging. Right there,” Halle said. “And after I became a lunatic and totally embarrassed myself, she stuck her head out and was like, ‘Hi.’”

Overworking girl

Why is Taylor Momsen such an angst-filled teen? She blames her parents.

“Everyone’s like, ‘Wow, why is she upset, and why is she so miserable about things?’” the “Gossip Girl” star-turned-rocker told Revolver magazine. “My parents signed me up with Ford [Modeling] at the age of 2. No 2-year-old wants to be working, but I had no choice.”

“My whole life, I was in and out of school,” the former child star said. “I didn’t have friends. I was working constantly, and I didn’t have a real life.”
