Tornadoes tear through Texas and Oklahoma

An outbreak of tornadoes wreaked havoc across parts of Texas and Oklahoma on Monday afternoon, with the storms stretching into the evening hours.

The long line of storms led to some injuries and a wide swath of property damage. Among the towns that were hit was Jacksboro, Texas, located northwest of Fort Worth, where an elementary school and high school were wrecked. No students were injured, according to Weather.com.

“It brought tears to my eyes. It’s hard to see. I’ve lived here for 15 years. I love this place,” Jacksboro High School Principal Starla Sanders told WFAA.

Roughly 30 miles to the northeast, near Bowie, some were trapped in collapsed buildings. At least four people received minor injuries, said Emergency Manager Kelly McNabb, according to the Associated Press.

Other images of damaged homes and other buildings were shared on social media.

Some people also posted footage of tornadoes that crossed their paths.

Tornado warnings and watches were issued in areas all across the region and extended into the night.
