Former President George H.W. Bush will perform the opening coin toss at the Super Bowl on Sunday in Houston, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed Wednesday.
Bush was released from the hospital on Monday after spending almost two weeks being treated for pneumonia. He had to be admitted to the intensive care unit for a period of time, but was healthy enough to return home.
Bush spokesman Jim McGrath tweeted that both Bush and his wife, Barbara, are “honored” by the “kind invite.”
