Six people accused of gunning down a key city murder witness will not be allowed to know the addresses of their accusers, a judge ruled Monday.
“None of the addresses in this case should be disclosed to anyone outside of defense counsel,” said Baltimore County Circuit Judge Patrick Cavanaugh.
Cavanaugh said the order is necessary “given the alleged facts in this case,” despite state guidelines that allow suspects to know their accusers? names and addresses.
Carl Lackl Jr., 38, a Rosedale resident, was killed in front of his house on July 2 in a drive-by shooting.
Patrick Byers, 22, while awaiting trial on murder charges in Baltimore City, sent a text message from jail to Frank Goodman with Lackl?s name, address and phone number, according to charging documents.
Goodman agreed to a sum of $1,000 to have Lackl killed; he was shot in front of his child, police said.
In addition to Goodman and Byers, Marcus Pearson, 26, Ronald Williams, 21, Johnathan Cornish, 15, and Tammy Graham, 21, are charged in the murder conspiracy.
