Joint Base Andrews in Maryland went on lockdown early Thursday morning due to reports of an active shooter.
Those reports were determined to be unfounded roughly two hours later.
The base posted on social media early Thursday morning around 9 a.m. Eastern time that all personnel were directed to shelter in place, saying there was a “real-world active shooter situation” at the Malcolm Grow Medical Facility.
Joint Base Andrews was partaking in an active shooter exercise when someone mistook it for the real thing, according to reports.
Vice President Biden was scheduled to fly out of Joint Base Andrews Thursday morning for an event at Ohio, but that flight is on hold. He remains at the Naval Observator.
The “all clear” was given by the base around 10:45 a.m and the lockdown was lifted. However, the Medical facility was still on lockdown.
Joint Base Andrews is located in Prince George’s County, Maryland and is home to Air Force One.
Last month, Joint Base Andrews was placed on lockdown after a woman walked onto the base and claimed she had a bomb, but that claim was not true. She was later apprehended.
