Trump officially funds government through September

President Trump officially signed a $1 trillion spending bill while at his resort in Bedminster, N.J., Friday evening.

The appropriations legislation will keep the federal government funded through September and is the first major piece of legislation to land on Trump’s desk.

The legislation cleared the House and Senate earlier this week, allowing the Republican-led bodies to avoid a partial shutdown that would have commenced midnight Friday.

The funding bill increased Pentagon funding by $15 billion and added $1.5 billion in emergency spending for border security and interior immigration enforcement. Both issues are topics Trump campaigned on strengthening while he was a presidential candidate.
