Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan slammed former President Donald Trump‘s request that Russian President Vladimir Putin turn over information on Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
Hogan said that Trump’s request was the “worst possible thing” that someone could do amid the war in Ukraine. During a segment of CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, co-host Dana Bash asked him about Trump’s words.
“It’s just more of the same,” Hogan said to Bash. “It doesn’t surprise me that Trump would make that statement,” adding that it was “unacceptable” to drag politics into the situation.

Trump requested during an interview with Just the News on Tuesday that Putin divulge information surrounding Hunter Biden’s business dealings with Russian oligarchs. During the interview, Trump specifically referenced a 2020 report from the Senate homeland security and finance committee claiming that the widow of the former mayor of Moscow, Yury Luzhkov, had paid $3.5 million to a company that can be linked to Hunter Biden.
“She gave him $3.5 million, so now I would think Putin would know the answer to that,” Trump said. “I think he should release it. I think we should know that answer.”
Trump reiterated his question, asking why the money was given to the Biden family. “I think Putin now would be willing to probably give that answer.”
A team of federal investigators is currently looking into Hunter Biden‘s taxes, though he has stated that he is “100% certain” that he will be cleared of any wrongdoing.

Bash also questioned Hogan as to whether or not he believed a ruling from a federal judge on Monday saying that Trump had “more likely than not” committed a felony in his attempt to disrupt the Jan. 6, 2021, congressional certification of the presidential results.
“I don’t know because I haven’t seen all the evidence whether he committed a crime, but I did see the ruling, and that was a major impact by that,” Hogan said, adding that he believes Trump was involved in “stirring up the insurrection on January 6.”
Hogan has been a strong critic of Trump, saying in December that he felt the former president running in 2024 as a presidential candidate would be bad not only for the Republican Party, but for the country.
