Hillary Clinton sent out a statement Wednesday citing many of the conservatives who say they can’t support Donald Trump for president even though he is now the presumptive Republican nominee.
“Last night, Donald Trump effectively captured the Republican nomination, successfully bullying his way through a crowded primary field,” the Hillary for America statement reads. “However, many prominent activists, journalists and elected officials in his own party have figured out what Hillary Clinton has argued all along: Donald Trump is too big a risk for America.”
The campaign went on to detail a list of prominent conservatives who disavowed Trump or the Republican Party in the aftermath of the billionaire clearing the GOP field by winning the Indiana primary
The former secretary of state first reached out to “thoughtful Republicans” after Trump swept all five GOP primaries on April 26. Clinton’s campaign will likely continue to reach out to moderate Republicans and independents as she prepares for the general election.
