Survivors of the February shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla., are reiterating calls for more stringent gun laws following a shooting at YouTube’s headquarters in San Bruno, Calif.
At least three were injured in the shooting Tuesday at YouTube’s headquarters, San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini told reporters. One person, believed to be the shooter, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Barberini confirmed the suspect was female.
Following news of the shooting, students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, where 17 people were killed in a shooting Feb. 14, offered their sympathies for those involved in the incident at YouTube.
“The YouTube HQ shooting is proof that this is NOT just schools. Our country has a GUN problem. End of story,” Jaclyn Corin, a junior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, tweeted.

Corin helped organize the March For Our Lives, a march through Washington, D.C., last month, which attracted hundreds of thousands of people and sought to urge lawmakers pass gun control legislation.
“My heart is breaking…please stay safe. I know how it feels to hide, knowing there’s a shooter lingering close. It’s not something anyone should have to feel. I’m so sorry, Vadim…we will make a change soon enough,” Corin tweeted, responding to a YouTube employee who said he was barricaded inside a room with colleagues.

“Hoping for a speedy recovery for those injured,” Cameron Kasky, a junior at the Parkland high school, tweeted.
The March For Our Lives expressed sympathies for YouTube from its official Twitter account.
“I write this without truly knowing the scope of the situation that is currently happening at YouTube HQ. No one should have to fear for their lives in our free nation. No one should have to send a last ‘I love you’ text before returning to their hiding spot while an active shooter terrorizes their community,” the group said.

Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter Jaime Guttenberg was killed in the Parkland shooting, called for measures to combat gun violence.
“Another shooting. This time, not one a school campus but at You Tube headquarters where people go to work. Again, we will look into why but the bottom line is, we need to deal with the issue of gun violence. THIS MUS STOP!!!” he tweeted.
“This is why I will not stop. After my daughters murder in Parkland, people focused on schools. Now everyone will say secure office buildings. We need to stop this nonsense and deal with guns,” Guttenberg said in a second tweet.
