A Marine pilot ejected from his plane off a North Carolina beach and was rescued Friday afternoon, according to local reports.
The Lumina News reported an AV-8B Harrier jet from the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point base crashed in the Atlantic Ocean not far from the beach. The pilot ejected from the plane and was rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter and his condition, and name, is unknown.
The cause of the crash is undetermined at this point and is being investigated.
The pilot and jet were a part of the Marine Attack Squadron 542, Marine Aircraft Group 14.
