Kim Jong Un, Xi Jinping expected to meet to discuss Trump summit: Report

Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are expected to meet in China to discuss Kim’s summit last week with President Trump, a report Monday says.

Kim intends to visit Beijing as soon as Tuesday to discuss the summit with Xi and a future negotiating strategy, according to Nikkei Asian Review.

Kim has already meet with Xi two times in China this year — the first being a trip to Beijing in March and another in Dalian in May.

The report comes after a summit between the U.S. and North Korea last week, where the heads of state signed a joint statement agreeing to pursue a “stable peace” on the Korean Peninsula.

At a press conference after Kim had left Singapore, Trump said North Korea agreed to give up its nuclear arms. Trump also claimed he was confident that the rogue regime would pursue complete denuclearization and that the process would be underway in the near future.

“We’re prepared to start a new history, and we’re ready to write a new chapter between our nations,” Trump said during a press conference after the summit. “There is no limit to what North Korea can achieve when it gives up its nuclear weapons and embraces commerce — an engagement with the rest of the world.”
