Girl abducted from White Marsh lot, sexually assaulted

A 13-year-old girl was abducted Friday evening from a park-and-ride lot in White Marsh by a man who then drove her to a home and sexually assaulted her, authorities said.

The girl was walking through the lot when the man came up from behind her, yanked her to the ground, shoved her into his car and blindfolded her, Baltimore County police said.

The man sexually assaulted her inside the house for perhaps 10 to 15 minutes, police said, before returning her to the lot.

There the man pulled off the blindfold and instructed the girl to cover her eyes until he drove away, at which point she ran to the White Marsh Mall and reported the attack to a security officer, police said.

Authorities released a composite sketch of the man Wednesday based on her description of him.

Investigators are searching for witnesses who might have seen something unusual at about 7:50 p.m. in the lot at Honeygo and White Marsh boulevards or a man, estimated to be in his 40s, walking into a house with the girl, police spokesman Bill Toohey said.

“It is always good to travel with a companion,” Toohey said, when asked whether residents should take extra precautions following the incident.

The attack did not match anything recently reported in the county, he said.
