A 2-year-old girl has succumbed to her injuries from a fire in District Heights, officials said.
Mariah Hood died Sunday afternoon at Children’s Hospital, according to the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS department.
At about 1:45 a.m. Friday, emergency services personnel responded to a fire at a house on Hil-Mar Drive in District Heights. Firefighters removed Mariah from the house, and she was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, officials said.
Investigators ruled that the fire was accidental and caused by unattended cooking, officials said.
