John Delaney thinks the president’s daily goal is to divide the nation.
The former Maryland congressman and 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful called President Trump the “divider-in-chief” during a town hall Friday in Hollis, N.H.
“I literally think he wakes up every day and tries to figure out how to divide the American people, how to pit American against their fellow American, because they have a different color of their skin, or because they worship a different God, or because they have a different sexual orientation, or, God forbid, they are in a different political party,” Delaney said.
“The good news is we can fix it all. This is a magnificent country. We have every possible advantage any nation could possibly want to have in 2019, except for one thing: We have a broken political system. And that system is led by irresponsible leaders who don’t do the responsible things,” he said.
Delaney is currently polling at 1% among Democratic voters both in early primary states and overall, according to Morning Consult.
Other 2020 Democratic candidates polling at 1% include former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julián Castro, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.
