White House press secretary Jen Psaki has been benched from a second foreign trip in a row after testing positive for COVID-19.
Psaki had two socially distanced meetings with President Joe Biden this week before he departs for Brussels, Belgium, and Warsaw, Poland, for high-stakes talks regarding the war in Ukraine, according to the press secretary. Biden tested negative for COVID-19 earlier Tuesday.

“Thanks to the vaccine, I have only experienced mild symptoms,” she added. “In alignment with White House COVID-19 protocols, I will work from home and plan to return to work in person at the conclusion of a five-day isolation period and a negative test.”
Psaki missed Biden’s trip to Italy and the United Kingdom last year after contracting COVID-19 from a family member.

Biden has had several brushes with the virus over the past week, though none have been “close contacts.” Last week, Vice President Kamala Harris’s husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, and Irish Taoiseach Micheal Martin tested positive for the respiratory illness. Harris has taken precautions but has so far not returned a positive result.
